Some Bookish (and not so bookish) Thoughts

I found this weekly meme hosted by Bookishly Boisterous and wanted to participate right away! Head on over to read her thoughts this week, find links to others, and if you are so inclined – join in!

  1. Every now and then I get completely stuck on a song that gets in my head for no real reason. Right now that song is Careless Whisper which is originally by George Michael but I’ve had the cover by Seether on repeat quite a lot this week. I’ve also been enjoying The Sound of Silence covered by Disturbed.
  2. I am actually giving Instagram an actual effort. Thus far I’ve only posted a few things but I am having fun with it. I can already see how fast it can grow into just as big a project as my blog itself if I let it. I also am realizing how crappy the camera on my phone is – go figure. Check out my struggle here.

The pouch my Doodle Crate pens came in – I love it!

I got my first package from Doodle Crate and I am 1000% thrilled with it. For $10 a month you get an assortment of ten pens and markers plus a nifty pencil pouch. I had a bunch of fun doing inktober this year and am starting to try new pens. This is absolutely perfect for trying new brands or types of items without having to invest in an entire set. Yeah.. I could gush for about forever, I’ll probably do a whole post on this at some point, it’s that awesome. Check it out! (Not sponsored or gifted or an affiliate link – just me being super excited!)

Some Lucky Stars I’ve folded – adorable right?

I first started learning origami a couple years ago but only ever really made one thing (a modular cube). Recently I’ve been exploring this hobby again and I’ve now learned how to fold lucky stars. It’s much easier than I thought it would be and I have tons of ideas of what I can do with these. You can find video tutorials to fold these all over youtube.

  5. I’ve not ever really done that well with Readathons in the past. Perhaps the idea of ‘having’ to read turns me off. This week is a complete game changer though and has me 100% pumped to try more in the future. I’ve joined in on the weekly readathon that’s hosted in the GoodReads group Hooked-On-Books and I’m doing really well. I already surpassed my goal of reading 1000 pages on day three. I admit I’m not super active in the group – I lurk a lot – but I suggest checking it out if you want some regularly scheduled events to join in on. Head on over by clicking here.
  6. I’m still in complete and utter shock since the election and just can’t bring myself to really talk about it yet. It’s going to be a long four years.
