I liked this book even better than the first in the series ( click to see my review ). A lot of the basic world building was done but the continued addition of details felt very natural. I got to know both Emilia and Jacob much more. Through the book I empathized with Emilia far more than in the first. The story is told a bit more from her perspective so I was able to understand the thoughts behind some of her actions. The other characters in the book were still just as interesting. I’m interested to see if we might get to know even more about the Siren in future books as I was very curious about the events involving her. I was interested enough that I feel an entire series could branch off just about the Siren and her activities and the few characters we were briefly introduced to. I was a little annoyed by the reactions of a few characters, especially at the end. A few of the surprises I could see coming, including one fairly major one. I still enjoyed it though and am looking forward to the next book in the series!
